Liturgical Dancer

Kayla Woods

Hello everyone, my name is Kayla Woods and I just want to express to you how truly honored I am to be a part of this fantastic movement! The mime and liturgical dance ministry is a ministry of love. I began to praise dance at the age of 8 and it kinda happened by accident. My mother was asked to put together a group of youth from our church to compete in the dance portion of the GMBC (Georgia Missionary Baptist Convention). She gathered 4 teenage girls together for the task, not truly knowing what to teach or how to teach it. She began searching for the right song and choreographing the dance and I would watch.

The day came for her to actually teach the girls and she forgot most of the dance. She then turned to me and asked me if I remembered the movements. I then got up and began to show the girls the dance. The teens and parents in attendance were so moved by my passion and dance that they insisted that i be added to the group! I danced with G.P.I.M. (God's Praise In Motion) for 6 years.

God's Praise In Motion dance ministry has allowed me the chance to attend various dance conferences and workshops throughout the state of Georgia. This is the only training I have ever had. People that watch me often think that I have had some form of dance training BUT I HAVE NOT. My talent is a tangible gift from God. I believe that God loves me and has a calling on my life. It is because of  this calling that I feel compelled to dance wherever the spirit moves me.I am appreciative and i thank each and every church, pastor, school, and person that has supported me thus far.To God be the Glory!!!

Kayla's Mission Statement: " It is my desire to minister through dance to the masses. I am a vessel for which someone may be touched by the presence and spirit of the Lord. It is my desire to express my love of God and my love for his people through total body worship. May my dance be a blessing to all that witness it.
